( in the most unfortunate or tragic situations the victim can still be located and recovered) Signal contains combustibles in the form of the instruction sheet, petrol fuel in the form of the case, packaging and rocket tube. A way of igniting both by using the included lighter. This can then be used to start a larger fire even in the most adverse weather conditions. The streamer is highly visible to both ground and airborne search personal. Signal cannot be used as a weapon because it cannot be aimed accurately enough at long range. It is too slow at close range to seriously injure an opponent, ignition time is variable to a degree that accuracy would not be achievable other that when fired from a fixed position. Bright packaging enables the unit to be located quickly in the event of the rescue signal being knocked loose from a backpack or dropped by the user accidentally. The streamer provides the maximum visible area for the amount of material. The streamer length insures that it is at least partially visible. It cannot be concealed by ground cover or a single point of view location. I.e. A single tree or outcropping can not block out the entire view of the streamer. Even if the user of the signal is severely injured. They can still deploy the signal by setting it up right beside their person if necessary without fear of injury, such as when they have broken bones or other immobilizing conditions.
